Two Weeks to Race Day
Just two weeks to go until my first full grid start. The roar of 35 engines on the starting line, LIGHT OUT and GO GO GO and then, hope I make it past the first corner and lap 1. Both the team and my coach tell me that on the start line your legs will be shaking, your heart rate will be through the roof and you will be wondering why the hell you signed up for this!
This is the biggest challenge that I’ve undertaken and even with all the preparation I have done I am getting a flutter in my stomach while writing these words, but my goodness it’s going to be a thrill.
Since my last blog, I have had a couple of mixed test days during which I lost my throttle pedal, blew the gearbox up and had the odd mishap or two, but on the plus side my times have improved and the team are very happy with my progress and my ability to achieve good consistent race lines and laps.
On 9th April we have our last test session the day before the race and we just have the odd tweak to do but I feel as ready as I can be in what has been a tricky period for training with Covid and multiple curve balls along the way. So all that’s left to do now is GO RACING!
